My Take on Facials: Blitz Facial Bar

As a professionally trained Makeup Artist, I know all too well that a great makeover depends on great skin. I’m still fairly new to facials, and have only  tried a few in the past year. I travelled to Japan last year, and booked a facial knowing my skin could use some extra hydration after the thirteen hour flight. I hate to admit it, but I did not enjoy my first experience at all. I actually did quite a bit of research and booked my facial at a highly credited spa, so it was unfortunate as to how unprofessional the service was. I loved how my skin felt after my treatment, so I really wanted to get the same results from a friendlier establishment.

Since then, I had been on the hunt for a spa in Toronto that not only makes my sensitive skin happy, but also provides excellent service. And Guys, I found it!

Blitz Facial Bar is exactly what I’ve been searching for. Blitz does a body AND a facial bar. I tried their Leslieville location since I live in walking distance, and could easily go to and from make-up free. After finishing exams, I thought Id treat my face to this relatively new place in the area. From their list of facial services, I tried The Extractor with a Plump it Up booster. I have never been so relaxed getting my face touched in my entire life (I don’t like my face touched at all!). I’m pretty sure I fell asleep ha ha. I had a few extractions which were pain-free, and the plump it up booster was a hydrating glass of water for my face!

The service here is  wonderful. Everyone was friendly and really professional. They were also kind enough to let me photograph the bar. I really enjoy the bright interior aesthetic of Blitz, but that’s just an added bonus. There was no pressure to purchase the bar’s facial products. I find that whenever I’m at a spa, the staff really push their products on me as a selling point, which I really dislike. Since the products were explained to my during my treatment (again, in a non-sales pitch way), I asked about the moisturizer myself. I purchased the Repairing Moisturizer for $50, and it’s 50ml of heaven. I can moisturize my entire face with one pump, and it’s done a fantastic job at keeping my skin hydrated during the dry winter season. As I mentioned earlier, I also have sensitive skin and I have had no issues with it.

I highly recommend Blitz Facial Bar to anyone wanting to treat themselves to a pampering experience. They’re more than just a pretty facial!

Why do I love facials?

  • My skin feels softer than a baby’s bottom
  • My face looks like I drank 10 glasses of water
  • It looks like I got 10 hours of sleep!
  • The results last quite a while… or until exams.

You can definitely re-create the experience and benefits at home. I will perhaps do another post on this in the future. 🙂

If you guys have any questions on facials OR have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments. I always love trying new places, although I’ll be back here asap.

Winter Season Pink Lipsticks from M.A.C.

As a professionally trained Makeup Artist, I can honestly say I have more lipsticks than I’ll ever need in three lifetimes. With Winter here in full force, I like to incorporate bright colours into my makeup looks to lighten the dreary mood. A lot of fair women believe that they can’t do intense pops of colour and should instead opt for pastels. While it’s true pastel pinks look beautiful on us, there’s just something so striking about a bold, pink lip on anyone!

Left to right:
Shanghai Spice (creamy muted pink), Show Orchid (very hot pink), Mehr (dirty blue pink)

These are my top 3 pink lipstick picks for the winter season from M.A.C. Cosmetics. Shanghai Spice is a lovely neutral pink that offers moisture for your lips if you’re like many and experience dry lips in the winter. Show Orchid is for the daring girl who doesn’t mind turning heads. This cool pink tone adds fun to any look. Mehr is a matte lipstick so it will last through all of your sips of vino! Because Mehr can translate as a pink-brown, it is especially beautiful as a neutral pink on South Asian skin tones.

I’m wearing Show Orchid in this post.

Have you guys tried these colours, what did you think? What are some of your favourite pink lipsticks for winter? I’d love to know! In the end, wear whatever makes YOU feel the most beautiful and happiest!
